Sarah, Duchess of York joins Queen at Balmoral

Sarah, Duchess of York, has been invited to stay with Queen Elizabeth II and other family members at Balmoral. She will be joining birthday celebrations for her elder daughter, Princess Beatrice, who celebrates her 20th birthday today.
The former Sarah Ferguson married HRH The Prince Andrew in July 1986. Princess Beatrice was born on August 8, 1988. Less than two years later, in March 1990, Sarah gave birth to a second daughter, Eugenie.
Prince Andrew was created Duke of York. Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh on the morning of his marriage. The Duke and Duchess of York separated in March 1992, and were divorced four years later.
In August 1992, Sarah was forced to leave Balmoral in disgrace when British newspapers published photos of her and her lover, John Bryan.
The Duke of Edinburgh, however, will not be present. He's in Cowes.

Sounds like your paper did not give all the facts. Sarah has been seen with Geir Frantzen, but he apparently has a serious and long term relationshipw with a Norwegian girl. Sarah and Geir are not engaged - and no marriage annoubcement.

Marlene, is HM fond of Sarah?

I really do not know. But I would expect that the queen is fond of her granddaughters, and supports family harmony.
